I get my 'official' GD releases mail order from a dealer called 'Spin CDs' in Newcastle-Upon Tyne, UK. Just received my RT Vol.2 No.2 (with bonus disc) - delay due to them having problems in getting hold of stock and then having to send it to me in Thailand (like wot where I live), I think they sent it by ship as opposed to Air Mail. But the purpose of this mail is not to bemoan the delay, rather:-

Enclosed with the discs was their usual photocopy of new release details and at the very bottom is says:-

ALSO RELEASED SOON ........ THE GRATEFUL DEAD - BICKERSHAW FESTIVAL, UK, 1972 - 2 CD/DVD SET .... MORE INFORMATION AND PRICE TO BE CONFIRMED SOON.

Well, as a confirmed '72 head-case, I'll just have to forget all about Miss D. and go and have (another) cold shower. It seems that there may well be a god after all !!!!

Hmmmm, interesting. Not sure how they'd fit it all on two CDs. A DVD of it though??? Sounds unlikely. There's no confirmed footage of the GD set is there? If this is actually a true release, it could be an absolute killer. Of course, if the set is put onto two discs, there'll be an avalanche of complaints about the show being abbreviated. On the other hand, aren't there problems with the multi-tracks for this show?

I don't think I'd complain about a Normanised Dark Star> Other One> Sing Me Back Home, even if they mail it to me on a CD-R wrapped in newspaper.

Check out "The Bickershaw Festival [DVD] [2007] - The Grateful Dead, The Kinks, Donovan and NRPS" on Amazon. I know 2 things (maybe more), this has been 'panned' for very little in terms of the GD's appearance (just an interiew with Garcia - maybe a copyright thing?) and talk about lots of video material still in 'the vault'. When 'they' (Rhino - whoever) want to, they can surprise us with stuff (previously lost recordings on recent Road Trips releases) we never knew existed. Also, think back to "Rockin' The Cradle" - we didn't get it all but what we did get (apart from the Bonus Disc) was a 2CD/1DVD package. As one who has lusted (and I mean that sincerely folks) over this show, I hope that it's true and not just an Ugly Rumour.

Spin CDs have good form - I think they were the first to announce the November '73 package.

Apparently some footage exists and has already been used. I haven't seen this DVD and can't vouch for accuracy but for what it's worth:

As per the recent thread about whole shows vs. highlights, I personally am indifferent about another whole show CD from 1972 but a DVD of a '72...now that's a whole different animal. Still, I hope they leave off "Tennessee Jed" and "BIODTL" just to see a nice long thread of the usual rants.
